Event Advisory Group
LBAF Event
Advisory Group:
The Foundation
prides itself in collaborating with other non-profits,
businesses and the city. We are always
looking for community members who wish to become part of
a dynamic team.
Volunteers are the "Life
Blood" of the
Foundation. The truth is without the
numerous people who volunteer for the Long Beach AIDS Foundation, we
could not conduct, any programs, events or AIDS Walk.
Over 9000+ volunteer hours are donated by our core
volunteer group to the Foundation annually. Meetings are
generally once a month and last 90 minutes.
The Event Advisory
Group is a vital team who act as leaders in ensuring all event planning
and logistics are managed. These leaders demonstrate extraordinary ability
to manage and lead their team in achieving the goals of
each event. A representative from every funded
agency also has a seat on the Event Advisory Group. However,
beneficiary agencies are not allowed to chair any key positions to avoid
any potential conflict of interest issues.
The
Event Advisory Group consists of committee members,
who chair
sub-committees that consist of teams implementing their
operational plans and objectives as an integral part of
all events. Each committee operates on a separate
timeline from the master timeline of the Foundation.
Some committees and sub-committees meet separately more
often throughout the year depending on their function.
Sub-committee may
consist of other community citizens outside of the Event Advisory
Group. An example would be the Beneficiary Chair
who has a seat on the Event Advisory Group but
chairs a team
of 10 sub-committee members who are charged with
carrying out the function of reviewing RFPs, site
visits, audits, assessments and preparing
recommendations and reports for Board approval.
The

governance above reproach.
The Event Advisory
Group
provides a mentoring
transition from year to year for all re-occurring
events. Community members wishing to become a Board member
are suggested to participate in the Event Advisory
Group. As with all volunteer positions, a volunteer
survey is conducted regularly or after exiting from
service.
