Our purpose is simple: To serves as a social change agent inspiring and empowering collaborative HIV/AIDS service organizations to embrace new strategic paradigms, motivate existing infrastructures, and enhance leadership with the ultimate aim to end the spread of HIV/AIDS.

As a volunteer-based organization working to end new HIV infection rates in our community we maintain one of the lowest costs of fundraising in the non-profit industry. Our goal is to ensure that every dollar is spent wisely to impact HIV infection reduction throughout the communities of south Los Angeles County.

However, we cannot do this with just volunteers.  Most of our programs require funds to operate. Some of these programs have small grants to supplement donor dollars.  But the majority of all of our programs operate on donations.  The Foundation is 97% donor-driven.  We receive NO Federal, State or County funds.

Plainly  Speaking

Why? Honestly, we can be more innovative and response quickly to the needs of the community than needing to create programs that fit a funding requirement.  Our philosophy is to create programs that meet the needs of the community, implement the program and find the funds later.  If we truly believe in the program we are doing, feel we are making a difference, then the funds will find their way to our programs eventually.  Just take a look at some of the most innovative programs we've created on our programs page.

Agencies who spend too much time chasing government entitlement programs are not necessarily serving the needs of the community.  Some agencies simply "collect numbers" to  fulfill their funding requirements, but do nothing to reduce new HIV infections in the near term.  We are not implying this is a systematic problem, but we do need to re-evaluate programs that haven't made a difference in our community.  Our views may not be popular among our counterparts, but we're here to serve the needs of the community, not the needs of an agency.
